Tackling health inequalities

Health Lottery North East and Cumbria exists to tackle health inequalities across its region. It raises money to help reduce health inequalities across its region. It does this by running a society lottery and working collaboratively with independent charity, People's Health Trust, to develop local interventions.

We donate the good causes funds we raise to People's Health Trust, who invests these in communities wishing to make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

This grant making trust funds local people who have great ideas about how they can make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

There will be a job club offering a different theme each week such as how to job search, how to create a CV and interview techniques. The intention of the project is to create a space where those who are experiencing unemployment can discuss issues, share concerns and offer support to each other. There will be the opportunity for residents to volunteer in the café to gain skills, experience and qualifications which may move them closer to the job market.
